At the Spotlight on Life Gala, “celebrity” healthcare dancers representing Wisconsin’s leading medical institutions perform with professional instructors from Fred Astaire Dance Studios in a Dancing With the Stars-style competition to raise funds for organ donation awareness. The dancers take time out of their schedules and take a chance on the dance floor to shine a spotlight on the critical need for organ, tissue and eye donation in Wisconsin.

The Spotlight on Life Gala was created by the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin in 2009. The mission of the Spotlight on Life Gala is to ‘shine the spotlight’ on the:
- Urgency of “ending the wait” for the men, women and children in Wisconsin who are waiting today for a life-saving organ
- Collaborative efforts of transplant and procurement and other donation organizations in Wisconsin who are serving transplant recipients, living donors and family members of deceased donors
- Donation awareness and transplant patient services of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin
- Importance of Wisconsin citizens to sign up to become donors on Wisconsin’s online registry, www.YesIWillWisconsin.com
